Kote Eristavi

Director of the Social Policy Programme

Kote is a member of EMC’s board of directors and alongside other directors leads the organization. He is responsible for the management of the Social Policy Programme. The Programme works towards identifying the causes and the nature of the social and economic oppression and exclusion of various social groups, including the workers, homeless and disabled people and works towards promoting the creation and strengthening of a social policy based on human dignity and equality. Kote is responsible for the development of the vision, the strategy and the agenda of the programme. In addition, his functions include mobilising financial resources for the programme, coordinating activities as well as team management and support.

Professional Experience

2018-2019: Vising scholar at The University of Oxford (Oxford, Great Britain);

2017: Visiting Scholar at Free University Berlin (Berlin, Germany);

2017-2018: Researcher – Social and cultural research institute, Ilia State University.

Furthermore, Kote has taught philosophy of law at Edinburg University; theories of Human Rights at Ilia State University and Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University; and legal research methods at Caucasus University.


2011-2016: Human Rights (PhD) from The University of Edinburgh, School of Law;

2009-2010: LLM from The University of Edinburgh;

2001-2006: Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from Ivane Javakhisvhili Tbilisi State University.
